Watchmen on the PlayStation 3
Watchmen The End is Nigh; it is the only video game adaptation relating to the Watchmen universe. The game was released in two separate episodes, the first being published march 4th of 2009. The second episode was then released on July 30th, 2009. Both episodes were later on released in disc format on July 21st, 2009. The game was available for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Out of the three options, it was the PlayStation that offered the best core experience for fans of the Watchmen universe to enjoy.
Playstation 3 Differences
The difference between the PS3 version and all other iterations of this game was that the PlayStation 3 was able to run that same extensive graphics that the PC could, meaning the highest quality of this game was available on the console. On top of that players also got the Extended Director’s Cut of the Watchmen film in Blu-Ray format. This meant that players weren’t just getting an eight hour, new story into this universe but they were also getting the film at its most extensive level. This resulted in the PS3 version of this game selling out more copies than the Xbox or PC.
Whoever wants to enjoy this game can still purchase it through the PSN Store. It’s also available on Steam but it said to have multiple issues causing the game to be plagued with a bad experience. The developer of the game, Deadline Games, didn’t receive barely any of the profit made through this game. Warner Brothers benefited more than the majority of the earnings for these games which resulted in Deadline Games filing for bankruptcy only a few months after the release of the second episode. This came as a shock to the industry but as an expected event to Warner Brothers.
The plot of the game was the best aspect to this episodic series. Players had to choose to play as either Rorschach or Nite Owl, revealing various clues in order to uncover a mystery that nobody would expect. The mystery revolves all around the Comedian who has been playing games with these two in a manner nobody could expect. Finally, players are taken through a journey that tests the relationship of these crime fighters and results in the two disavowing one another for decades until they were reunited in the film.
Watchmen: The End is Nigh, a game that will surely impress all fans of this universe and will give video game players fun gameplay for eight hours as an incredibly cheap price. Being able to own the film with a copy of the disc game only made purchasing this game for the PS3 that much more sweet.
